Oh Danny O’Donoghue, you beautiful man! Album Review – ‘The Script #3′
ALBUM REVIEW – THE SCRIPT – #3
Oh Danny O’Donoghue, you beautiful man.
With the aptly titled #3, The Script have yet again created an album full of the cool, carefully crafted tunes that we expect from the Irish trio.
A great mixture of heartfelt lyrics, rocking instruments and the edgy attitude we all love, The Script have produced a number of hits that could make it to the top like they’ve triumphed before.
I really wasn’t expecting much when I first heard Hall Of Fame, and I feared that they had had their day and pushed it too far. But, after some heavy looping sessions on my ITunes, I realised it’s because I simply hadn’t listened to it enough – now it’s safe to say I’m a teeny bit obsessed. ‘The Voice’ fans will know that a Will-I-Am and O’Donoghue collaboration was on the cards, but they haven’t just created a song, they’ve made a really inspirational piece (watch the video for the full effect).
The Script have still kept typical love songs like Six Degrees of Separation about love and relationships (think For The First Time), but also keep their rockstar images with Moon Boots, meaning a real air guitar around the bedroom scenario. The most unexpected track award goes to If You Could See Me Now, which shows us more of their Irish lad rapping skills that we’ve only seen before in the likes of We Cry. But the real faultless performance comes from Good Ol’ 39 Days, where they truly show what we’ve been missing since Science and Faith two years ago –musically, it’s genius.
Okay, so right now there may not be any legendary hits like The Man Who Can’t Be Moved and Breakeven, but give it time and I reckon the guys might just make it to the top again. It’s an album that needs a good few listens to really appreciate the depth of the lyrics and beauty of each melody, but nonetheless it’ll be a corker for The Script fans everywhere.
And the most exciting part is the Deluxe version of the album, meaning you can listen to their classic songs live and pretend you’re front row, arms in the air and screaming your marriage proposals to Danny – don’t pretend you wouldn’t!
