Gig Review – @BAKERmusic caught live at Molly Malone’s in L.A!
POPLEDGE CAUGHT LIVE – BAKER!
On Friday 24 August popledge went to see an up and coming music star at Molly Malone’s in Los Angeles! Here is our writer Tammy’s experience of the gig..
Molly Malone’s is a cute little music venue in L.A and if you ever get the opportunity to see an artist there then I would definitely recommend it, Friday night (24th) I had the pleasure of seeing an up-and-coming artist there called Baker.
Baker performed a short taster set of his new music combined with a classic cover of Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ with just a guitar for accompaniment. See the video below for a clip of his cover. Here is a huge compliment to Baker..his version and vocals were better than when I heard Oasis do it live, only the audience sing-a-long was missing from his version.
Baker is an adorable presence with lots of energy and stage presence, we got jokes and story-telling throughout his set which didn’t feel forced or scripted. He worked the audience well and they were happily dancing along, which is often a rarity in L.A shows. The music was a blend of electro pop and rock which really worked well. Think Justin Timberlake meets Train.
The main issue with Baker’s show was that it was too short! I and the audience wanted more but unfortunately his band had only been together for a couple of weeks. I look forward to seeing Baker and his band at a full show soon.
