JURASSIC PARK 4 IS STEAMING INTO PRODUCTION!
JURASSIC PARK 4 – IT IS HAPPENING!
I have a soft spot in my heart from the Jurassic Park trilogy – at the time these dinosaur movies came out they really were revolutionary in terms of the computer graphics used to imagine the dinosaurs, combined with great stories the films have really stood the test of time.
Producer Frank Marshall (the “Bourne” series) recently told Collider magazine that “Jurassic Park 4” is indeed on the horizon. He confirmed that not only was it being set for release in the summer of 2014, but that it would indeed be a sequel and not a reboot. This is great news for fans of the first two films that were disappointed with the third installment, although I wasn’t.
This news goes hand in hand with what Steven Spielberg (“Jurassic Park”) said at Comic-Con last year when he mentioned that the film would hit theaters within 2-3 years. Since the release date is fast approaching it is only a matter of time before we hear who Universal hires to direct the picture. Maybe Spielberg (who is producing the sequel) will step up to the plate, but I imagine he will pass the baton on to someone else.
Screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”) were hired by Universal to work on the script. They did amazing work on the last “Apes” franchise, and should produce a good story for the next JP movie. If they get the story and the CGI right then it could be the movie event of 2014!
I really hope they produce an amazing score for the movie too!
